Exercise 11, Recommendations

Recommendation on the using of Library 2.0 technology
It is very hard to find out which libraries in the world have the 'best practices’ to use the library 2.0 technology and utilize this technology into their categories such as 'adult fiction' or 'reference'. Maybe finding the definition or introduction of the Library 2.0 is easier than finding specific libraries. So I am going to go ahead and give some common comments and recommendations in using the Libraries technology to make the Hurstville Library more friendly.
I went to the Hurstville Library website and browsed their services provided, and I was surprised that the using of the library 2.0 technologies is fairly complete. It has its Facebook pages, twitter pages, blogger pages and Youtube video promotional ads, as well as RSS. In the local studies categories, it provides sufficient electrical information and other external links even a e-photo library catalogue.
Comparing to the local studies categories, the children's categories focuses on people services such as Art attack, book week, Dragonfly art club, school holiday activities, story time. I consider it can use more 2.0 technologies to make it more interactive, friendly and convenience anytime and anywhere, such as podcasts and vodcasts, fickr and Youtube to make it more visualizing.
In the teenage categories, the library already provides E-book, audio books, video book and mp3 downloading. However, if the library provides podcasts or online e-books services, it may be better.
Regarding adult fiction, the library already allows the users online bookmark the book and e-book downloading. But I look at the e-book catalogue, it only has several books, the amount is too few. I deem provide more electronic material such as e-books, DVD, MP3, podcast will be better.
In the relationship with Reference section, I think the library can try to provide some recommended bibliographies on each subject area and they can link to some external official critical websites such as the Global Books in print etc. It is helpful for the users to quickly find out the appropriate book he wanted and provide the users sufficient objective reviews.
